Yes, assembly is required. When you purchase your log splitter, we ship it to you in a crate. You must assemble it before use.
If you're an average DIY'er, it should take you approximately five hours to assemble. If you add a friend to help, it could go quicker! Be sure to watch the assembly video to avoid any assembly mistakes.
Here's a quick review of what to expect as you assemble your log splitter:
- The main cylinder and blade are pre-installed on the beam. Together, this sub-assembly weighs approximately 300 LBS. You'll need to attach the hydraulic fluid tank to this beam sub-assembly. This can be challenging to do alone without some type of lift hoist or jack.
- You'll need to mount the engine onto the hydraulic fluid tank.
- Depending upon the log splitter model, you can also expect to be attaching items like the towing tongue, wheels, fenders, log lift, and valves.
- You'll need to connect hydraulic hoses to various ports on the cylinders, pump, and valves.
To wrap things up, make one last tightness check of the bolts/fittings and then fill up the hydraulic fluid, engine fuel, and engine oil. Now you're read to fire it up and start splitting!
